Cathal Mccabe
Tenor

Cathal completed his Bachelor at Dublin Conservatoire of Music, and continued his studies at the Irish National Opera Studio.

Performance credits include Eisenstein in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus with Westminster Opera Company, Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with Opera in the Open, Acis in Handel’s Acis & Galatea with Opera in the Open, Henry Crawford in the Irish premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park, Shouter in Caruso’s Lady Gregory in America at Wexford Festival Opera and Nanki-Poo in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado at the National Concert Hall. He recently made his solo debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, singing at their Valentine’s Day gala.

As a studio artist at Irish National Opera, Cathal covered the role of Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and sang the tenor role in their touring production Music, Magic & Mischief. Concert credits include Handel’s Messiah, Scarlatti’s Messa di Santa Cecilia and Haydn’s The Creation with Esker Festival Orchestra.

Cathal was awarded the Jane Carty Prize for most promising competitor aged 25 or under at the 2025 Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, and the Dermot Troy Prize for highest placed Irish competitor. He studies at DNOA as a Koninklijk Conservatorium Excellence Scholar.

Repertoire at DNOA includes Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg’s NIGHTTOWN and Leoš Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen.
