Marta Liébana

Marta Liébana began her piano studies at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Getafe, Madrid, with Áurea Pina, Luis Noaín and Luis Calderón. She continued her Bachelor studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid with Almudena Cano, who made a strong influence on her musical career. There she specialised in vocal accompaniment with Juan Antonio Álvarez Parejo.

In 2006 she was admitted into the Sibelius Academy to finish her Bachelor’s degree in Helsinki, Finland, with Annikka Konttori-Gustafsson. From there, she went to Amsterdam where she studied for her Master’s with David Kuyken, who continues to guide her. During her studies she won different scholarships including Almudena Cano’s, Ministry of Spain’s and Madrid Community’s. She has received piano lessons from Elisabeth Leonskaja, Boris Berman, Evgeni Koroliov, Eldar Nebolsin, Jan Wijn, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Ilmo Ranta, Vladimir Tropp, Naum Grubert and Willem Brons.

She has won numerous awards including First Prize in Piano and Chamber Music at “Intercentros Competition” sponsored by Hazen, 2002; First Prize and Special Prize for the best Spanish Music performance in La Línea de la Concepción, Cádiz, 2005 and the Audience Prize of the Grachten Festival Concours in Holland, 2010.

Marta has performed in venues such as the Reina Sofía School (Madrid), the Botín Foundation and Ateneo Theater (Santander), the Concertgebouw Kleine Zaal and Radio 4 (Amsterdam). She has worked for the DNO (De Nederlandse Opera), the Opera Studio in Amsterdam, Opera op Zak and Opera 2Day in The Hague.
