Maria Koshiishi
Mezzo soprano

The Japanese mezzo-soprano Maria Koshiishi studied classical singing at the Tokyo University of the Arts where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in March 2017 and her Master of Music degree in March 2019. During her undergraduate studies she started performing regularly in concert and on recordings with the renowned ensemble Bach Collegium Japan under Masaaki Suzuki. As a soloist she has sung in Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle, Mendelssohn’s oratorios St Paul and Elijah, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Bach’s B minor Mass, Magnificat and cantatas, and Mozart’s masses. In 2019 she gave her first Lieder-Abend in Japan featuring romantic German and Russian repertoire.
