Idil Kutay

Turkish soprano Idil Kutay has completed her first year of master’s study with the Dutch National Opera Academy, where she recently sang the role of Beth in Mark Adamo’s Little Women. Future roles at the DNOA include Cornelia in Graun’s Cleopatra e Cesare, Cendrillon in Viardot’s Cendrillon, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Rosalinde in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. At the Royal Conservatoire, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree with distinction, she performed excerpts from Mozart’s Idomeneo (Ilia), Verdi’s Falstaff (Nannetta), Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette (Juliette) and Faust (Marguerite), and the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.  She also participated in masterclasses with Andrew Watts, Nelly Miricioiu, Peter te Nuyl and Sébastien Dutrieux. In a concert organised by the Spanish Embassy and the Instituto Cervantes, she performed songs by García Lorca, Obradors, and zarzuelas. She was the soprano soloist in Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with Kamerkoor Couleur. Idil won Second Prize at the Fifth International Singing Competition Alīda Vāne in Ventspils, Latvia, and is the recipient of a Dr Nejat Eczacibasi Foundation Music Scholarship.
