Jeannette van Schaik (1988) / soprano
Soprano Jeannette van Schaik received her vocal education at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she graduated cum laude under the tutelage of David Bollen and Sasja Hunnego. Currently she is a member of the prestigious Dutch National Opera Academy.
Jeannette’s operatic repertoire includes roles such as the Contessa in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, 1e Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Click in Hanna Kulenty’s modern opera The Mother of Black Winged Dreams. One of her most acclaimed performances this year was in the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
She also recently made her debut with the Dutch National Opera as 1st Madrigalist in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. Future engagements will include Mimì in Puccini’s La Bohème in Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, as well as coming spring at the Bredeweg Festival Amsterdam and Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with NJO Muziekzomer.
As a concert performer her repertoire includes works such as the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, Ein Deutsches Requiem by Brahms, Mozart's Requiem and Krönungsmesse, Messiah by Händel and the Weihnachtsoratorium and both St. Matthew and St. John’s Passion by J.S. Bach.
Artists that Jeannette has collaborated with are stage directors Javier Lopéz Piñón, Andrea Breth, Sybrand van der Werf, Sharon Mohar, conductors such as Clark Rundell, Paul Nadler, Alexander Joel, Huba Hollóköi and Kenneth Montgomery. She has also attended masterclasses taught by Margreet Honig, Liora Maurer, Lucy Arner, Udo Reinemann, Johan Simons and Alexander Oliver.
Jeannette is being coached by Ira Siff, Nathalie Doucet and Peter Nilsson.
