Deborah Saffery (1987) / mezzo-soprano
00Deborah Saffery was born in Santiago de Chile. She started her vocal studies at the Instituto de Musica de la Pontificie Universidad Católica. After that, from 2008 until 2010, she has studied singing with Prof. Richard Kistler. In 2011 Deborah continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany, with Prof. Towako Sato-Schöllhorn. In 2015 she graduated here cum laude.
Deborah has taken part as a soloist in various projects, in roles such as the 2. Dame in Mozart's "die Zauberflöte", and the Forester’s Wife in "The cunning little vixen" by Janaček. She has also sung in many chamber music recitals and concerts in Chile, Argentina, England, Germany, France and the Netherlands. Over the years, Deborah has taken part in several masterclasses, such as the Eton College Choral Course in London, and the International Masterclass in Holzhausen with Margreet Honig.
Since September 2016, Deborah is a student at the Dutch National Opera Academy, further specializing in opera and performance, with Margreet Honig as her voice teacher. In the first half of 2017, she will perform the roles of “Prince Charmant” in Massenet’s Cendrillon, and “Hänsel” in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel.
