Adanya Dunn / Soprano

Appearing as one of Canada's 2017 Top “30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30” (CBC), Adanya Dunn is quickly gaining recognition as an operatic soprano and avid interpreter of contemporary works. She has been praised for “her sultry soprano red hot and alluring” (Opera Going Toronto) performing Musetta in Against the Grain Theatre’s Dora-Nominated production of La bohème. In 2015, Adanya made her Carnegie Hall debut with The Song Continues and won an District Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She holds degrees from the University of Toronto; is an alumna of Dawn Upshaw's Graduate Vocal Arts Program (Bard College); attended Marilyn Horne’s Music Academy of the West; was a Rebanks Fellow at the Royal Conservatory of Music's Glenn Gould School; and is a two-time grant recipient from the Canada Council for the Arts. Adanya’s passion for innovative and genre-bending projects led her to pursue roles as Resident Performer with the interdisciplinary arts collective FAWN Chamber Creative, Co-Artistic Director of the chamber series Happenstance, and most recently as the vocalist for an electro-techno opera-improvisation project she developed with a sound artist technologist.
