AUDITIONING

Auditions play a crucial role in an opera career and make different demands on the singer than the performances. In the audition training lessons, the DNOA student learns to remain focused on the artistic goals while coping with the stress of the audition situation.

Prior to the audition training there are group discussions about audition preparation (the making of a CV, choice of clothing, mental attitude etc.) and meetings and discussions with casting directors, agents and theatre directors.

Advice on repertoire choices is given by the singing teacher, the coaches and the artistic director. The audition technique is built up through a cumulative process of internal auditions leading eventually to major auditions for casting directors and international agents.

The goal of this aspect of the course is to help the student to achieve an artistic integrity, whatever the situation.
